What to expect ON your first visit

Your first chiropractic visit will last about 45 minutes, and will consist of a thorough consultation, full spine examination, digital x-rays (if needed), and a specific chiropractic adjustment. Your initial in-office clinical exam focuses on 3 areas: patient history and symptoms, chiropractic exam & adjustment, and post-exam diagnosis.

1

Patient History & Symptoms

Before your appointment you will be asked to fill out forms that provide background information about your symptoms and condition. We also offer the option of downloading our new patient paperwork from our website to fill out at home prior to your first visit.

2

Chiropractic Exam & Adjustment

We will conduct a thorough chiropractic exam to assess range of motion of the affected body parts, muscle tone, muscle strength, and neurological integrity. Digital x-rays of the affected area may also be necessary for further clarity on the root causes of any symptoms or discomfort you are experiencing.

In addition to your exam we will perform an initial diagnostic adjustment. Chiropractic adjustments are quick and painless, and generally provide patients with immediate pain relief. Chiropractors treat the most restricted joint to provide maximum relief, whereas if you try to crack your own neck or spine you’ll just crack the joint that’s easiest to crack, not the one that’s most in need of an adjustment.

3

Post-Exam Diagnosis

After your adjustment we will review findings from your patient history and exams to arrive at a specific diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is established and we have determined whether your condition will respond to chiropractic care, we will go over our “Report of Findings” and recommended treatment plan with you. Each treatment plan is different because we develop custom treatment plans based on your specific concerns and your goals for care in our office.
